A Summer Well Spent – my Internship Experience at uP
When deciding how to spend the summer after my freshman year, I couldn’t have been more excited to join uP as an intern. Between setting up monitors with my co-interns and working with the talented engineers, I’ve gained so much experience in and outside the office.
Before coming here, I was a bit nervous about working at a company for the first time, let alone one that was Chinese-speaking. However, after seeing the beautiful office and meeting the welcoming engineers, I knew it was going to be a wonderful experience.
The uP Taipei office has an incredibly collaborative and passionate work environment–it was so inspiring to see such a tight-knit team of professionals. Even though they were extremely talented, I never felt intimidated to ask about their work or what it’s like to be in this field.
Being surrounded by this energy, I got to work on a mix of projects, from AI platforms and UI design to creating customer documents. Through testing and QA, I also built technical skills, and the meaningful conversations in between helped me understand the finer details of corporate tech work.
The hands-on experience of working at a startup made me realize that even the smallest tasks—like building IKEA boxes with my co-interns, Darren and Gabe—really mattered. It was such a rewarding feeling, and I don’t think I could have gained this level of learning or fulfillment anywhere else.
Cultural exchange also happened naturally in the office. One of my fondest memories includes the time when us interns introduced American snacks to the engineers. I’ve also picked up many new Chinese words and phrases while ordering lunch with my coworkers each day–something I’m incredibly grateful for.
I deeply cherish this experience and the newfound confidence it gave me. I’ve made lifelong memories and feel beyond prepared to take on the new school year with what I’ve learned. I truly can’t thank Lewis, Yiju, and the entire team at uP for enough for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! It was a summer well spent!

在規劃大一暑假的時候，我對能以實習生身分加入 uP 感到非常興奮。從和其他實習生夥伴一起架設螢幕，到和優秀的工程師們合作，這段實習讓我在各方面都有很多成長，也過得非常充實。
實習開始前，我對於第一次進公司實習有點緊張，況且這還是一個以中文為主的工作環境。但當我看到明亮的辦公室，還有熱情友善的工程師們，我就知道這會是一段很棒的經歷！
uP 台北辦公室的工作氛圍非常有活力且合作緊密，能看到並參與在這樣一個團結的團隊中，真的讓人深受啟發。辦公室的工作夥伴都非常專業，但他們完全沒有架子，也很好親近，讓我不會害怕問問題或請教他們的工作經驗。
在這樣的環境裡，我參與了許多不同的專案，從 AI 平台、UI 設計，到撰寫客戶文件。透過測試和 QA，我也建立了一些技術能力，而那些在工作之間的對話，也幫助我理解科技業公司的工作細節。
這段實習的實作經驗讓我發現，就連最小的任務——像是和實習夥伴 Darren、Gabe 一起組裝 IKEA 傢俱——都很重要。那份成就感帶給我滿滿的收穫與滿足！
除了工作上的收穫，讓我印象深刻的，還有辦公室裡自然流露的文化交流。其中我最難忘的一次，是我和實習生夥伴們帶了美國零食請工程師們試吃，大家反應超有趣。還有每天跟同事一起訂午餐的時光，也讓我學習到了很多中文新用詞，真的十分感謝有這樣的機會！
這段實習經驗讓我累積了自信與能力，也留下了許多珍貴的回憶，讓我準備好帶著收穫回到校園。我真的很感謝 Lewis、怡茹，還有整個 uP 團隊，給了我這麼難得的機會，這真的是一個非常充實又難忘的暑假！
